    Hi,

I know there are many threads on it. But nowhere have I been able to find a clear answer as to whether it is possible or not to perform the following:

    - I have an internet box from which I get the connection to Internet
    - I have a third-party (Linksys) router that does my routing and my wifi
    - My home is built in a way so that I cannot get wifi everywhere (possibly because the Linksys has crappy range), though I think one extra spot would help

Can I use an Airport Express device to extend my Linksys' wifi coverage?
Many threads exist but all contradict on whether it is possible or not to extend non-Apple-based networks with an Apple device.

If not, does the following architecture work?:
    - Linksys still there to be doing my wired-ethernet routing
    - One Airport Express device plugged to the switch of the Linksys and that delivers wifi
    - A second Airport Express plugged in another room that only extends wifi provided by the first one

If this still is not possible, what would be? By now, if you're still reading, you must have gotten a clue of what I am trying to achieve ;)

The thing I'd like to avoid is to have to replace the Linksys by the Airport Extreme that could do my wired-Ethernet routing and still have to get an express one for range extension...

    Thank you.

Holy crap, that program is amazing. I just tried it out on a song that was labeled ZHFR from when I transferred music back from my ipod to my hard drive (long story) and it figured out exactly what it was. Craziest part is there was no tagging besides the 4 letters and it was an a cappella version from my college.

Totally buying this tomorrow when I'm by my credit card.

To be honest, I had forgotten the apple even existed, until I saw the FP iMac commercials early last year. As soon as I saw the commercials, I drove 2 hrs to the closest Apple store to check them out. But, being a PC user for 15 years, I was iffy about going with something I knew nothing about, but, the main thing that limited me was my budget at the time was only 1500, so I couldn't get the iMac w/ the Superdrive, grrr.....

Well, sadly, I ended up going with a slapped-together Athlon system. Everything was running smoothly, so I thought I was happy with my decision. But, after a few months of playing with system, and countless Windows XP reinstalls, due to system errors, driver conflicts, and that devil-incarnate directx, i started looking at apple's again, even though I had no money to buy one :(

Then, as luck would have it, during a Thanksgiving day Beer/Football fest, a friend of mine offered to by my Athlon system for 1800, which I couldn't pass up. So, in short, I sold the system within the week, & promptly ordered an iMac, still had to get a 15" (but with the SuperDrive) :) although the 17" was amazing, at the time it was a little out of my budget.

After using the iMac for a few months, I was very pleased with my decision, I miss the games, but my wife bought me a playstation2 to take care of that, heh.

After watching my financial situation improve since the beginning of the year, I decided to buy a laptop. I was open to all brands/platforms, and, to be honest, I was intent on buying a peecee laptop, since there were a few things that i HAVE to have a pc for, so I did.....actually I bought two....

The first one I bought was a Toshiba, but it had a bad video chip, so i returned it, the 2nd was a sony grv-680, a very powerful machine, but 9 lbs was too much, and it had very bad build quality, so I returned it too.

After researching for a few more weeks, I went to look at the 12" Powerbook....played with it at the Apple store, and took one home that day :)

(it's got the SuperDrive too, hehe)

anyway, with the money I saved going w/ the PBook, I stopped by WalMart, and bought one of the 499 HP bundles, which handles the few things that i needed the peecee for, hehe....

Anyway, after playing with the Powerbook, I've decided that I want the 17"....so, if all things work out, I'll be owning a 17" by the end of summer, my wife will inherent the 12", & my 5-yr old will get the iMac.

Anyway, that's my story, I went from forgetting apple even existed to owning 2 Macs within a year

    :)

just thought i'd share my story

Seriously nice work, I could see that on a billboard, infact get on the phone to Apples PR Team and sell them the idea.

Even down to the humour Apple would use... pure Class!

How are you plugging them in? If you can get the guitar to work, every thing else should. You should plug the line out from your keyboard to the audio inputs of your tascam. For the mic, it should go into the mic in.

As for returning it, it's not a bad idea. It sounds as though you just plugged things wrong if you can get it to record your guitar. But tascam interfaces are a pain in the ass. Really, I had the L version of the interface and it wouldn't work when I wanted it to. I had to reinstall the drivers countless times, plug and unplug it, restart my computer. And apparently, I'm not the only one to get all of those problem, there's a thread about in the board. They never release new drivers and usually the updates aren't that better. I just hope I can save you the trouble.

I would love a backlit keyboard. As long as the batteries would be able to last 1 month I'm happy. I use rechargeable batteries so it wouldn't really be a huge issue.

I called Apple, they said it's most likely a graphics card failing (I agree).

The weird thing is, is that 10-15 in while playing a game, it completely locks up, but the mouse cursor is movable (weird).

You have to hold the power button to get it to work again. But once booted back into OS X, it's slow, and the screen flickers once, and then locks up again.
The TechDoolDeluxe tests came back normal too....

This only happens when gaming for about 10 mintues, and then the lock ups happen. (weird thing is mouse cursor is still movable)

    Any thoughts?

Did you read the documentation? Specifically the Animations section of the View Programming Guide for iOS (http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/WindowsViews/Conceptual/ViewPG_iPhoneOS/Introduction/Introduction.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40009503) which is directly linked from the UIView class reference.

Haha, luckily it wasn't independence day for him, since using a windows XP machine (I would presume) would cause a destruction of an alien mothership, and besides, how can you upload a virus to a ship the size of Jupiter in literally 60 seconds? You would need quantum-core infinite RAM with turbo powered processors, enough to power the sun.

If I bring this to the Genius Bar, which is the more likely outcome: they will fix it, or exchange it? I'd like to know so I can start copying my files off of the computer.

If you are within 14 days they dont make the call...you do.
