I worked on that clip alone for about an hour. Then I managed to pull the lower case section out a little bit to disengage it. I also used a modified popsicle stick instead of a black nylon stick :rolleyes: .

Hi Everyone:
I've come back to the mac world. I've been away ever since my apple G3 was stolen. Now, I bought an apple I3 IMac 27". Hummm, I still miss my G3. Anyways, let's get to the problem.
In these threads, everyone is having problems with their IMac's not sleeping in Windows 7. Well not me. For me, my IMac is not sleeping in OS X [10.6.7]. I thought there was a hardware issue. Just to make sure it was not, I erased the hard drive and reinstalled the OS. Then, it was fine for awhile until I started installing software. The last thing I installed was skype in OS. And now it does not go to sleep in OS. Why doesn't my IMac fall asleep on its own in OS X? Could it be boot camp? Or, could it be skype? And yes, I reset the PRAM and followed the directions on the apple web-site and I even called apple care but, to no avail. I should have bought a Windows machine!
Just kidding....
Can someone help me please? If it's a skype issue then, I understand. But, why on earth would skype prevent my IMac from sleeping even when it is closed. It just doesn't make any sense for the programmers to have skype conflict with OSX 10.6.7; they would have resolved these types of conflicts by now.

Wont the OS 'be PPC', preventing it from booting on intel hardware, and also devoid of drivers? I know the apps included on OS X are UBs, but isn't the 'core' either PPC or x86?
Intel can boot from a GUID(intel) or Apple Partition Map-APM(PPC). Leopard is also universal as it contains all files for both PPC and x86 Macs. All Snow Leopard was basically a stripped down version of Leopard, just removed all PPC support.
I removed a hard drive from my G5 and had it in a USB enclosure and it booted just fine on my 2009 Mac Mini. I was running 10.5.8 even though my Mini shipped with 10.6.

I am seriously considering camping out as I REALLY want one as soon as possible... Has anyone been at this location for a launch before? Is it pretty popular? I was hoping that maybe it wasn't as popular of an Apple store and that the lines would be shorter... that and I live in Oakland about 5 minutes away!

The only person with the source is I0n1c and he was out of the country last update so it took him some time to compile new binaries for the release (if needed).
This could also be why it's not patched yet - with no access to the source it's harder for Apple to reverse engineer the exploit and discover what they are doing. With a need to get the update out so fast they probably didn't bother. I expect it to be in the next patch though.....

Too bad the person stung by the 2 hornets didn't already have his iPhone 4. I'm almost certain that the new iPhone would contain some kind of antidote that would have been very helpful. I guess we will all just have to wait for Thursday!

Before you screw around with it too much, can you backup your stuff to an external drive or CD/DVD?

Thank you, again. Your generosity is making my life much easier. I am making progress in my trying to plow through the online stuff, as well as two texts on R that I have bought. I wish they had taught R rather than SAS when I was in school. SAS is so hard to afford, that once people graduate they find themselves having learned something they can't use.
On to the next problem.

Talk to Apple. This looks like the infamous Nvidia 8600M issue and may still be covered under Apple's replacement scheme (I actually got a brand new MBP out of them about 6 months out of warranty).
Make an appointment at your local genius bar and see what they say.
The 8600M only appeared in the Macbook Pro and I believe only the 08 model. The OP says his computer is a Macbook and from early 2007 so will be using the Intel 950 integrated graphics.

So here's the deal. I have a 15" MacBook Pro that I want to sell. Aesthetically, it looks great, no dings, dents, or noticeable scratches. About 2 months ago, I started getting kernel panics, and it got to the point that I couldn't even boot without a kernel panic. I finally reinstalled OS X. Everything seems to be ok. It's up and running, hard drive is good, haven't had a crash or panic in quite a while. Heck, I typed a research paper on it last night.
After all the panics, I swapped the RAM out, and I think that made a difference.
I'd like to sell the MBP. I'd say it is in good order, not excellent given the issues I've had in the past. I'm willing to knock some off the price. I wanted to disclose this issue because when I sell it, that's final. You know it has had a history of kernel panics that required a complete reinstall of OS X. No returns, and I don't want to be hassled if something goes wrong down the road (I don't think it will).

-2.16 GHZ Core 2 Duo
-2GB installed (I can install another 2GB, only 3GB will be recognized and used by OS X)
-120GB hard drive
-Comes in the original Apple MacBook Pro box

Hello everyone,
I am new to Objectvice C and just started learning it.
The situation that I cannot resolve is pretty trivial, I am sure there is something simple I am missing. I created Fraction.m class in my test project in XCode using Source -> Add -> New File ->Objectvie C Class. I filled the .h file with the members and implemented all of them in the *m file. Afterwards I am trying to instantiate this Fraction class in my Program.h class in the main function.
I tried to include the .h file through #import <Fraction.h> directive but I get compiler error "No such file ore directory". Also whenever I am trying to use Fraction class, I get compiler error that Fraction is not defined. Though intellisense in the XCode code editor is seeing both "Fraction.h" and Fraction class. I am sure that there are no compilation errors in the Fraction.h and Fraction.m.

You'd think they'd actually TEST IT before releasing to the public. I've used Navicat with great success (gotta love that scheduler; though it deletes everything else in cron), CocoaMySQL is good, too, though needs an update.
It's possible that their MySQL Administrator ONLY works with their version of MySQL for Mac OSX. I'm using the original from Mac OS X Server, though don't know what the differences would be.

Pages is perfectly fine for word processing, which I know from experience as I been using it for that purpose every day for nearly two years. Most of the people who say otherwise either haven't learned to use it or would have preferred that Apple produce a Word clone. Some of are very happy that they did not go that route.

Office isn't even installed on my PowerBook anymore, and I've been using Pages and Keynote quite successfully on campus (where lots of classes and professors want lots of word and powerpoints all the time) for two semesters now and am glad I made the switch. I'm excited to hear about Lasso.

While the terms of the warranty permit Apple to replace defective phones with refurbished parts, I have no reason to believe this unit is refurbished. The iPhone came with the plastic adhered to the screen and has no blemishes or anything.
I lost my patience and went ahead and downgraded to 1.0.2. I'm really enjoying using the camera with Pushr, so I may need to rethink trading.
I put a crystal film screen protector on it as soon as I removed the plastic, so it's still pristine.
